Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery NYC
It’s one of NYC’s most legendary restaurants (been here since 1910), and I finally went after I stuffed my face at Morgenstern’s and Patrick was like, let’s get knishes! Too cold and happy and full from the ice cream to protest, I waddled over there in the rain with him.
I’ve been meaning to go to Yonah Schimmel Knish Bakery for god knows how long, so it’s great that I can cross it off my list. We munched on a plain knish and a latke and I have to say that I am so in love with the latke.
It’s a bit greasy, but the grease makes it very comforting, and makes it taste homemade. The texture is hearty and the edges nice and crispy. It’s seasoned just right and you can taste a bit of onion peeking through. If I hadn’t eaten all that wonderful ice cream already, I probably would have stayed there all day in the rain sampling everything else they had to offer from bagels and egg creams, to their dessert knishes and homemade yogurt.
