The Tea House on the Second Floor

For those who love tea, are looking for a charming tea house or just want a place to relax, Cha-an serves all types of teas, some served in big cups and others that are meant to be enjoyed in more of a tea ceremony way. What I love about Cha-An is that when you order the ceremonial teas, the experience is just so darling. You get a mini teapot to brew tea for 15-20 seconds, an aroma glass, strainer, tea cup, chocolate and a little shot glass to hold the teas leave. The waitress will give you a lesson on what to do and a good sized pitcher of hot water which tells you that they won’t be rushing you out any time soon. Also, I have had their food before and it was wonderful. I can still remember the gentle tasting, but filling15 grain porridge. Even the different textures you feel from biting into the grains was so lovely. When it gets colder I’m going to have to stop by for another bowl.

The other day when I stopped by, I was so full from eating all day so I restricted myself to a Maatcha green tea latte with red beans. Maatcha is basically a green tea powder that is whisked to make rich, colorful and flavorful drinks. Tea leaves are picked, dried and then ground into the fine powder. The flavor was slightly bitter, but a good bitter, and the beans sweetened it just the right amount. I also loved the bowl it was served in.

Oh! And definitely check out their bathrooms. The have some fancy toilets in there!
