Miss Lily’s NYC
Leftover oxtail from a girls’ night out at Miss Lily’s in Soho. Delicious, and the only reason I had leftovers was because we also noshed on all of the below. Loved the food, but would only go back if it were the last stop of the night. Our clothing, hair and skin smelled so bad and potent when we left, all of our husbands commented on it when we got home. There is an open kitchen design so you end up smelling like the food, grill and fryer. Aside from washing our hair and showering right away when we got home, the three of us also had to immediately wash our clothing, purses and gym bags. Would definitely suggest getting your food to go if it’s not the last stop of the night. I felt bad for all of the people who had to sit next to me on the subway.
The pics are a dark because it was night time and there was only candle lighting inside.
Jerk Corn: corn on the cob topped with jerk mayo and toasted coconut
The coconut definitely gives it a unique and refreshing kick. I would prefer without the coconut, but one of my girlfriends loved it with.
Jerk Chicken Wings: jerk marinated and grilled
Hot Pepper Shrimp: peel and eat style
Nice big pieces, head-on, which is great because the head is my favorite part.
Crispy Fish Tacos: Red Striped battered mahi mahi with spicy escovitch
The batter is so nice and crispy, be sure to eat it immediately so that it doesn’t get soggy.
Mac and Cheese Pie: Definitely a must. Nice, creamy and so delicious. We ate the entire side.
Oxtail Stew: Gravy, broad beans, and rice and peas.
Really flavorful and the rice and peas are a must to eat with it. Rice and peas are not in the above picture. We finished it in the restaurant, so when I ate the leftovers, I cooked up a pot of rice and beans to go with it.
Rum Cake: We weren’t fans. A bit bland and just average if even. We could have done without ordering this.
