Mike’s Deli on Arthur Avenue in the Bronx

For about two weeks all I could think about were Italian heroes. This led me to stare at pictures from when I visited Mike’s Deli in the Bronx. Located on Arthur Ave., who some say is the true Little Italy of New York, I could eat there everyday. Not only is there menu incredibly extensive with different sandwiches and pasta dishes, but there are so many fantastic items that you can purchase to take home, such as oils, cured meats, sweets and sauces. If you can’t make the trip out, they sell a bunch of items online. However, if you have never made the trip to Mike’s Deli before, it is a must on your food bucket list.

Patrick and I stopped by for lunch and were so excited when all these big portions were placed in front of us. I am a sucker for a great hero sandwich, so you can imagine how giddy I was when I saw this beauty:

This gorgeous thing is the Yankee Stadium Big Boy. It features mortadella, ham, salami, capicolo, mozzarella, lettuce and the best sweet and hot peppers I have ever eaten before. I still think about those damn peppers.

Patrick opted for the John Wayne, which is a simple roast beef and Swiss cheese sandwich.

And of course, we had to try their famous eggplant parmesan as well.

No, we didn’t finished all of this in one sitting.

Yes I did finish the rest for dinner.

Mouth…watering…right…now.
