Grilled Cheese Egg in a Hole Recipe
Egg in a hole is divine. Grilled cheese sandwiches are delectable. That’s when I thought to combine the two when I spotted some shredded cheese in the fridge. Crisp and buttery bread, runny yolks and melted cheese? What more could I ask for? Oh, I guess bacon, since I ate it with bacon on the side.
Ingredients for one sandwich
2 slices of bread
Handful of shredded cheese (I had Mexican blend on hand, so that’s what I used.)
1 TBS of butter
Rip or cut circles out of the bread with your fingers, a glass or a cookie/biscuit cutter.
In pan, melt the butter. Dip the side of one of the slices of bread in the melted butter and put to the side. Take the other side of bread and lay it on the melted butter in the pan. On the bread, avoiding the hole, spread your shredded cheese. Break the egg into the hole (if you are worried about getting shell in it, then break the egg into a bowl first and then pour the egg into it). Lay the other slice of bread on top of it, buttered side up. When the bottom of the egg has cooked, use a spatula and flip the sandwich. The bread should stay together because the cheese should have slightly melted.
When both sides are golden brown, serve and eat!
