Fushimi Restaurant & Lounge
To put it simply, Fushimi in Williamsburg, Brooklyn is delicious. The food is beautifully presented, extremely well priced and tastes on point. We attended a blogger lunch there one weekend and will make it a point to head back because we enjoyed our meal there that much. I know, I know, I don’t head out of the city that often unless I’m seeing family, but it’s a beautifully designed restaurant with delicious food, definitely worth heading out for. Every plate that came our way was cleaned off.
We ended up stopping in on a Saturday for lunch, and they were also running a brunch menu. The brunch menu was $18 with one drink or $25 for select unlimited choices, and it is really well worth the money. Between the brunch and main menu, ordering was pretty tough because of all of the tasty options, so take that as a good sign.
Fushimi is touted as a Japanese restaurant and lounge, but after reviewing the food, it seems to be more Asian Fusion now.
Off the main menu we went with:
Seared Scallops under the Hot Appetizers: Has pesto, cauliflower puree and mushrooms. Loved the flavoring on it and how each scallop was a perfect bite.
Sunset Blvd. Roll: Spicy tuna with soy paper and plum sauce. You can also get this with salmon or yellowtail.
Then we ordered a prix fixe off of the brunch menu, and it came out as:
Fushimi Buns: LOVED THIS! They are basically baby man-tao buns that have been fried.
Crab Bisque Soup: Lots of crab meat and full of flavor. I ate the whole bowl.
Wasabi tuna: Comes on a sesame crisp and with guacamole. How pretty is this?
Char Grilled Rib Eye Steak: Bulgogi sauce marinated steak with crispy mashed potato and horseradish sour cream. This was lovely. I’m a sucker for anything bulgogi and was so happy to see it on the menu since it’s a Japanese restaurant. My husband usually cuts off the fat and leaves it for me, but he ate it all. I also loved that they took extra steps to reinvent the mashed potato, because it looked great and has a gorgeous crunch to it.
Cheesecake Lollipop Tree with Vanilla Ice Cream: I don’t know why restaurants don’t serve this more often. They give you just enough of sweet to end a meal and are perfect for sharing. This one came with strawberry and chocolate crunch ones.
Fushimi has multiple locations in New York. Please visit FushimiGroup.com for the one closest to you.
Side note: They have very fancy bathrooms. My husband said he felt like James Bond walking through the tunnel.
