Ethiopian Dabo Kolo

While in DC, we managed to make a stop at Dama, one of the better known Ethiopian pastry shops in the city. And while their cookies had a tad too much salt for my own tastes, they were still very buttery and enjoyable. But what I really want to talk about is their Dabo Kolo. I have never had Dabo Kolo before, so it was a new treat for me. And while I can tell you that it isn’t amazing, there is something about it that is so strangely addicting and satisfying. It’s basically spiced up pieces of fried dough that I cannot stop eating. Because they are small pieces that have been fried, they are incredibly crunchy as well, I guess that’s where the satisfying aspect comes in from. Since it was my first time trying it, I can’t compare it to other companies, but I will say that if you come across it, snag a bag for yourself. When I finish mine, I’ll think I’ll give it a whirl and make my own. It seems easy enough!
