Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats Recipe
So…these were amazing. I was skimming the web for a cake batter Rice Krispie treats and there are a ton of recipes out there. Super easy, but super festive and tasty, I’ll be making these again very soon.
12 cups of Rice Krispie cereal
8 TBS of butter
2-10 oz bags of marshamallows (mini ones melt faster)
2/3 cups of yellow cake mix powder (I’m sure white or strawberry would be fine too)
Rainbow sprinkles (However many you want. I used about 2/3 a bottle, mixed sprinkles and non-pareils because I ran out of the regular kind. Just make sure to reserve some to sprinkle over the top of the treats.)
Take a 13” X 9” X 3” pan, butter the bottom and cut a piece of parchment paper to fit it. Place and press the parchment paper into the bottom of the pan.
In a very large pot, over low-medium heat, melt the butter. When the butter is melted, add in ½ the marshmallows, melt a bit and then melt down the rest. Turn off the heat and do the next steps really fast. Mix in the cake mix powder, then ½ the cereal, then the rest of the cereal, then the sprinkles.
Press into the pan, sprinkle the reserve sprinkles over the top and let it set.
When they have cooled and set, run a butter knife around the outside of the treats to help pop it out. Turn the pan over and everything should come out nicely. Pull the parchment paper off, flip the one big treat over and then use a large knife to cut into squares.
