Biscuits with White Sausage Gravy Recipe

I love eating biscuits with white gravy, but I never thought to make it before. I just assumed that the process would be pretty long, which is kind of is. But I rolled out of bed at 11AM one morning and had a hankering for them that wouldn’t go away. I was still sleepy, and knew I wanted to go back to bed, but I wouldn’t be able to sleep till I fulfilled my food craving.

However, I cut a bunch of corners and made a really, insanely fast recipe for biscuits and white gravy that even P hoovered. Not only did it hit the spot, but it was delicious. I fell back asleep and didn’t write the recipe down, so I’m guessing that this is what I did judging by the picture that I found on my phone.

Fingers crossed that it’s right.

Ingredients

1 lb sausage meat

1 pat of unsalted butter

2 cups of skim milk. You can use other milk as well, this is just what I had

3-5 TBS of flour

Salt and pepper to taste

Bisquick

Now What?

Make biscuits according to Bisquick instructions. While that is baking, start on your sausage gravy.

 

In a pan, cook up your sausage meat and break it up. When it is cooked through, take meat out of pan and keep to the side. In the pan, turn the fire back on and throw in the butter. Use it to scrape up all the sausage bits left in the pan. When that’s all scraped up pour in your milk. Once that is heated up, lower the fire so that it simmers. Whisk in a TBS of flour at a time till you get the consistency that you want. As you keep simmering it, it will get thicker and thicker.

Mix in the sausage meat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

 

When biscuits are done, take the top half off. Pour sausage gravy over the bottom halves. Put the biscuit tops back on. Pour more sausage gravy over everything.
