Always Have Fresh Scallions In Your Kitchen

You ever watch ‘Heroes’? I dunno if that show is even on anymore, but it’s the one where Hayden Panettiere plays a cheerleader. Her character on that show reminds me of a scallion, simply because she regenerates body parts. I guess that’s kind of a stretch, scallion vs. pretty blonde girl, but that’s what popped into my head when I started writing this post.

I learned this tip while watching a the season of ‘The Next Food Network Star’ from Melissa d’Arabian, who also won. So that you’ll always have fresh scallions, all you have to do is just take the bulb, and put it in a cup of water. It’ll start growing again, and pretty damn quickly I might add. If you look at the pics, the tall one is one that regenerated from last week, and the short and cut scallion is one that I put in yesterday. Already, you can see growth shooting up. Freaky!

Apparently the roots grow too. Left is the one I put in yesterday, right the one I have been soaking since last week.  My guess would be to keep cutting the scallions back once they grow to long if you want to keep new growth coming back, instead of the stalks just growing old and dying.
